Employers warned, "you can't train your way out of a role design problem"

Employers continue to rely heavily on training to address the challenges now facing managers, but in many cases, the problem is their role, an HR advisor says.

The burden of rapid workplace changes is significantly impacting managers, to the point where many now have a "completely unmanageable" role, Gartner director Jonathan Tabah commented to HR Daily last year.

And as employers continue to introduce new processes and systems, it's still falling on managers' shoulders to ensure they're followed, Tabah says.

But while burnout, fatigue and mental health issues have spiked for managers, "the vast majority" of employers keep trying to "train their way out" of the problem, instead of addressing the cause...
