"Very experienced" HR professional laughed at mentally-ill worker

An HR professional exacerbated an employee's pre-existing psychological injury when he "laughed in [her] face" after she gave him a certificate of capacity, a commission has ruled.

The Jalco Automotive employee sought workers' compensation for major depressive disorder, but the employer denied liability on the basis that her injury wasn't work-related.

Before the NSW Personal Injury Commission, the employee claimed that shortly before she stopped working for the employer in March 2020, she had been under pressure to achieve production targets and train new casual workers "almost every other day"...
