'Upward bully' loses disciplinary action appeal

An employee accused of bullying her manager has failed to prove her proposed disciplinary action was unwarranted.

In September 2020, Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service organised an external investigation into bullying and harassment within Bundaberg Hospital's specialist outpatient department.

During the investigation, 20 allegations were made against an enrolled nurse, and ultimately five were substantiated and one was partially so.

These included that the employee was rude, aggressive and abrupt towards colleagues, and that over many years she had colluded to undermine her manager; she had victimised her and constantly referred to her as a "bitch", which amounted to reverse bullying...
