Support teams first before getting "vocal" on ethics

High-profile and controversial issues often pressure employers to publicly "pick one side", but not every organisation is suited to this type of social action, an ethical leadership specialist warns.

Currently, the "general climate" suggests that if employers do not commit to reform "then you're on the side of the oppressor", says Vincent Fairfax Fellowship program director Matt Beard.

"There's something to be said for that, but there are also organisations whose role is not to advocate in that way."

For example, he suggests peak bodies in certain sectors have a responsibility to create dialogue between ethically diverse stakeholders...
