Court overturns finding that workload caused psych injury

An employer that took a "commendable" approach to dealing with an employee's workload concerns has successfully appealed against her compensation for a psychological injury.

The Road Freight Services office manager had claimed "cumulative" workplace stress caused her adjustment disorder with depressed and anxious mood, but her workers' compensation claim was rejected on reasonable management action grounds.

Appealing to the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, the employee said she met with the employer in November 2018 to discuss her workload and staff shortages, and the effect these issues were having on her health...
