Restricting employee's "aggressive" communication was reasonable action

An employer's "very modest step" in limiting an employee's communications with his supervisor was reasonable action, in light of identified risks to the latter's mental health, a tribunal has found.

The Services Australia employee sought workers' compensation for the aggravation of his bipolar disorder, but the employer denied workplace events caused his injury, or alternatively maintained its actions were reasonable.

From October 2022, the employee experienced a number of work issues, which included failing to comply with a direction to report on the progress of his drink-driving and drug possession charges...
