Manager who complained about swearing CEO wins $94k for adverse action

An employer has been ordered to pay a manager $94k in damages after the Federal Circuit Court found it unlawfully dismissed him for complaining about the CEO's swearing.

Judge Caroline Kirton found the manager and CEO had a "functional, amicable" relationship, which deteriorated after his complaint to a point where the CEO "froze" him out.

The Advent Security Services strategic development manager was sacked in September 2018 for alleged poor performance. He subsequently claimed adverse action, arguing the workplace complaints he'd made were the real reason for his dismissal...
