FWC rejects "offensive" and "reprehensible" bullying allegations

A worker has lost her stop-bullying claim after making "unpalatable" accusations that she was targeted due to her Chinese heritage, with the Fair Work Commission finding no evidence of repeated unreasonable behaviour towards her.

The volunteer chair of Regional Development Australia Brisbane (RDAB) sought stop-bullying orders against three employees of the Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communication and the Arts, claiming they treated her differently and unfairly over a number of years.

The Commission heard that in October 2021, the chair made LinkedIn posts complaining of "nasty racist comments" by "a few people employed and paid by Commonwealth money", and about how Australia would lose in a war against China.

She claimed one of the three employees, the director of Regional Development Australia (RDA), bullied and discriminated against her when he "demanded" she delete the posts...
