A common "fault line" that dominates leadership discourse is the over-simplification of the leadership process, or the over-complication of it, according to a new book that advocates a "blended" approach.
The recent shift to transformational leadership is synonymous with a better understanding of employee and employer wellbeing, psychological safety, and the importance of having a good workplace culture. But according to David Potter and Jens Starke's new book Building a Culture of Conscious Leadership, a purely transformational approach may be problematic.
"We need a new model that sits between simplicity and complexity," the authors say. They suggest "conscious leadership" as a mediator that gives value and "practical potential" to high quality transactional and transformational leadership...
