ESG a pathway to HR's "true strategic advisory role"

HR has an opportunity to play more than a compliance role when it comes to environment, social and governance (ESG), an organisational strategy specialist says.

There are three frames for HR to consider in relationship to ESG, says Nous Group principal Tony Fiddes.

The first is compliance, "where HR should be ensuring that all of the legislative requirements are met [and] they have the right policies in place".

"But we actually see an opportunity for HR to elevate itself in the conversation to think about how HR really plays that true business partnering role to help an organisation deliver its ambitions in ESG, and that really speaks to the next two frames..."
