Employee distressed by career going "nowhere" wins psych claim

An employee who claimed she was forced to "dance through hoops" to progress in her career, but ultimately "went nowhere", has won compensation for a psychological injury.

The NSW Police Force general administration support officer sought workers' compensation for a depressive disorder, but the employer denied liability, arguing her injury was caused by reasonable action regarding promotion and/or the provision of employment benefits.

In a dispute resolution application to the State Personal Injury Commission, the employee claimed that most of her eight-year tenure was spent watching colleagues not have to "dance through hoops" to get roles, and "constantly" asking for feedback on what she was doing wrong, but never receiving an answer...
