Employee 'bargained away his right to free speech' by signing deed

An "unusual" case highlights the importance of ensuring commonly used settlement-deed clauses accurately reflect both parties' intentions upon separation, according to a lawyer.

This type of clause can be "particularly important" in agreements with managers and executives, and this decision shows courts will enforce these contractual obligations, which can result in damages orders, Kingston Reid special counsel Brad Popple tells HR Daily.
