Data helps leaders "show their work" and build trust

The onus will be on leaders to "show their work" this year, with the best celebrated for providing greater transparency into the 'why' behind decisions and company strategy, according to an HR specialist.

The 'show your work' concept has origins in early education, where students were encouraged to 'show' the method behind problem solving, but it's something leaders can use to their advantage, says UKG head of HR ANZ and South East Asia Rebecca Moulynox.

Speaking to HR Daily after the Workforce Institute at UKG released its annual predictions, Moulynox says there are "so many reasons" why she expects leaders showing their work through data and metrics will become a key trend in 2023.

"In my experience, showing your work is really about leaders being honest about why decisions are being made, employees may not necessarily agree with the stance, but if they understand the why, they can respect the decision..."
