D&I at risk of regressing in the return to workplaces

The different ways in which employees return to workplaces is likely to impact diversity and inclusion progress as some employees become less "visible", says an expert.

Research from the International Labour Organisation has warned that the pandemic and lockdown restrictions could wipe out the modest progress made on gender equality in recent decades, says Justine Cooper, head of diversity and inclusion consulting agency Brook Graham APAC.

There's a risk some employees become less visible, as men are more likely than women to return to the office, she tells HR Daily.

It's a business imperative to address poor working cultures head-on, as this will prevent D&I from regressing, she adds.

"It's really important for leaders and employers to think very consciously and deliberately around how they can focus on bringing workers back into the workplace in a way that is inclusive. It's a real cliché, but no one size fits all"...
