Culture coaches are "powerful" agents of change

The less time employees spend absorbing behavioural expectations by "osmosis" in the office, the more intentional organisations have to be about reinforcing them, and "culture coaches" are a potential solution, an expert says.

While HR and external specialists can play a part in culture change, they can't do it for the business, because it has to be owned by the people, says Human Synergistics consultant Dominic Gourley.

For this reason, his organisation has been helping clients achieve cultural change via "culture coaches".

The point of cultivating a certain culture is not "culture for culture's sake", but to drive outcomes, Gourley tells HR Daily. Organisations exist to perform a service or produce a product, and culture – which influences the way people work and behave – either helps or hinders them from doing that effectively...
