Case study: Inside a leadership and career development revamp

One of Australia's 'best places to work' is retaining more of its "best and brightest" talent by providing new opportunities to stretch and grow their skills, according to its chief people officer.

Engineering and tech solutions company, Nova Systems' point of difference is its people being at the centre of everything, including its strategy, says CPO Shelley Willsmore.

"[Our strategy] says it's about being small enough to care, but big enough to matter," she tells HR Daily. "And that really does flow through in the results from 'best place to work' but also the way that we engage with our employees."

Nova has ranked ninth in the 2023 WrkPlus 'best place to work' research – its top result since participating in the survey consistently since 2010. This year, Willsmore says it placed "a concentrated effort in a number of areas", including its career and leadership development offerings...
