Building HR strategy in 2023 "harder than ever"

Building HR strategy has never been more difficult than in the current climate, but by mobilising employees to play a more active role from the start, HR can save money, gain buy-in, and reduce turnover, an expert says.

Drawing on recent research into HR priorities for 2023, Gartner advisory director Arj Bagga has told a briefing that "change fatigue" is one of the most significant challenges HR will face this year.

The Gartner survey shows more than half of HR leaders believe their people are fatigued by change, and more than a quarter say their leaders aren't equipped to lead it.

Bagga notes that some changes don't require a formal change management strategy, either because they're simple, or unavoidable (such as a legal mandate). In these cases, a "just do it" approach is justified, though employees do need to know "why the change must happen and when it's going to happen"...
