"Bad bosses" with low self-awareness losing staff

Some of the behavioural traits that get employees promoted to management roles are now causing attrition in their teams, a leadership specialist warns.

Employees who are straight-forward, who lack self-awareness and empathy, but are full of self-confidence, often secure promotions, according to Fire Up Coaching founder Kathy McKenzie.

But these very same traits can drive the people they manage to quit, she tells HR Daily.

The problem is that many leaders don't even realise they're "bad bosses", partly because their employees find it so difficult to give them feedback, and partly because even if someone does pluck up the courage, their feedback tends to be dismissed...
