Employers might expect to see the Australian Human Rights Commission exercising its new compliance powers later this year, Sex Discrimination Commissioner Anna Cody tells HR Daily.
In the months since the AHRC gained new powers to act on workplace sexual harassment, Commissioner Cody says it's been working hard to ensure employers and PCBUs (persons conducting a business or undertaking) are aware of "what it is that they actually have to do to comply with the positive duty", and to develop the infrastructure the Commission will need to execute its new role.
"Most of our energy has gone into creating educational materials – the guidelines, the short versions, the fact sheets in seven community languages, the easy-read version – and I've been doing a lot of talks on positive duty," she says...
