Labour market testing to be "streamlined", among key migration reforms

A new migration strategy will streamline the much-criticised labour market testing regime and create a new three-tiered temporary skills pathway, the Federal Government has announced.

The 99-page Migration Strategy outlines a new vision for Australia's migration system, with a policy roadmap containing eight key actions, underpinned by new policy commitments and areas for future reform.

The reforms announced today follow the Review of the Migration System, whose final report noted the process for obtaining employer-sponsored visas is "complex, costly and often slow"...
