Fully remote 'wouldn't work' for HR manager role: employer

An HR manager has failed to prove he was constructively dismissed when his employer revoked its offer for him to work remotely.

The employee was originally Holiday Rental Specialists' head of growth, based in Braemar in NSW, but in January this year he flagged an intention to resign and move to Queensland.

Wanting to retain him, the business owner created the HR manager role on the understanding he would start straight away and then later work from interstate.

On 30 March, the owner emailed the HR manager to express her doubts about the role being remote, saying she "shouldn't have jumped so quickly to suggest it" and that the business needed HR "on the ground in peoples faces everyday (sic)"...
