Employers keen to increase in-office days, and open to four-day week

Some 71% of business leaders aren't ruling out moving to a four-day week within five years, while most want their workers back in the office more days this year, according to new research.

The 2023 Robert Half Salary Guide, which is based on a survey of 300 hiring managers, including 100 CFOs and 100 CIOs, says relevant factors for those considering a shorter work week include: employee requests; changes to the business model; business results; and how other companies fare after making the transition.

The guide says that while 76% of managers already offer, or plan to offer, remote work options, more than half (59%) plan to increase the number of days employees are required to spend in the office this year compared to last.
