Employee who refused to work new roster didn't quit

An employee wasn't forced to resign when his employer decided to "freshen" up its roster, resulting in shifts that didn't work with his study commitments, the Fair Work Commission has ruled.

The international student was employed by Certis Security as a security officer between December 2020 and March 2023, working at Adelaide's Westfield Tea Tree Plaza predominantly on weekends, which allowed him to study full time.

Earlier this year, while the employee was in India on extended leave, a supervisor contacted him to let him know he was reviewing the roster to "freshen it up" and to accommodate other workers' personal situations...
