Employee accused of racism, bullying was unfairly sacked

An employee who was accused of being racist and leaving his employer short-staffed because of his "multiple" health issues has won maximum compensation for unfair dismissal.

The 67-year-old fruit and vegetable sales assistant had been employed by Carnegie Fruit Market on a full-time basis from 2010 until his dismissal in February this year.

In unfair dismissal proceedings, he claimed the employer hadn't provided any reason for sacking him and never gave him an opportunity to respond...
