Digital harassment seen as "less serious" than physical forms

Online s-xual harassment can have a "chilling effect" on women, but employers are perceived as minimising its impact or viewing it as less serious than physical forms, research has found.

In a new report, Australia's National Research Organisation for Women's Safety (ANROWS) defines workplace technology-facilitated sexual harassment (WTFSH) as involving unwelcome and/or threatening sexual conduct using mobile, online and other digital technologies in a workplace context.

It says that while much is known about the extent of sexual harassment victimisation, there has been little research on WTFSH specifically....
