ADHD awareness rising, but most employees still 'held back'

Most Australian employees with ADHD have had to make their own adjustments to thrive at work, but employer awareness is growing, new research shows.

Some 72% of employees with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder believe the condition has held them back in their career, according to ADHD Australia's survey of 1,059 Australian employees with ADHD and employers.

And 76% say they have implemented their own systems at work – above and beyond what an average employee would do – to cater for their ADHD.

Some 60% of respondents have told their workplace about their ADHD diagnosis, but the remaining 40% cite concerns that they will be treated differently if they disclose it...
