Managers 'leaning on' HR for crucial conversations

Research is showing a major misalignment between managers' and employees' expectations of mental health conversations.

According to research commissioned by Allianz – involving more than 1,000 employees and more than 500 managers – nine in 10 managers are satisfied with their organisations' approach to mental health, but only one in five employees feel that same satisfaction.

Some 24% of employees are unsatisfied with the rate at which their manager checks in about their mental health and 39% of employees say they have not had a crucial conversation with their manager in the past 12 months (79% report wanting to do this in 2022).

Further, only 24% of managers say that they proactively check in with their direct reports...
