Four-day week a "gamechanger" in talent-short sector

Transitioning to a four-day week has been a "gamechanger" for luring talent in an industry with critical shortages.

Recruitment company The Andersen Partnership's (TAP) managing director Shawn Twomey tells HR Daily it was a "fairly painless process", designed to meet employees' needs while also helping the business grow.

"Part of the conversation was about the options out there. Option one is obviously complete flexibility [on where people work], but with growth plans, we wanted to still retain some in-office work and ensure we continue our culture but still give our staff something that's got a bit of 'wow factor'."

The leadership team discussed the pros and cons, deciding that a four-day week in the office (where everyone has Friday off) was the right move, and "it was probably one of the easiest, most unanimous leadership meetings I've had", says Twomey.
