Symbolism has big impact in DEI efforts

LGBTI+ employees are twice as likely to be victims of workplace discrimination compared to other employees, new research indicates, and the key to combatting this is to go beyond policies, a senior HR leader says.

In this area, Fujitsu ANZ is "leading the way" for the global Fujitsu Group with its inclusion efforts, head of office of purpose Nicole Forrester tells HR Daily.

The organisation recently ranked as a bronze employer in the 2021 Australian LGBTQ Inclusion Awards run by the Australian Workplace Equality Index.

"We weren't expecting to get any level of recognition because it was our first time [entering]" and the organisation was just seeking feedback on ways to improve, says Forrester, attributing the success to the internal Pride Advisory Group's work.
