Accused employee had no explanation for "fabricated" harassment allegations

A BHP employee has failed to convince the Fair Work Commission that a contract worker, upon hearing about a colleague's s-xual harassment claim, immediately fabricated another against him.

The 58-year-old BHP technician was working at a remote mine in the Pilbara region when his supervisor told him he was being stood down and sent home pending an investigation. He later learned an on-site cleaner had accused him of sexual harassment.

According to the ESS Support Services cleaner, she'd just finished cleaning a block of employee rooms when the employee engaged her in conversation. He was carrying a six-pack of beer and invited her to his room for a drink, but she declined...
